On July 7, 2009 a founding group of Christian Leaders met at T-Bones Restaurant in
greater Haines City in an attempt to bring all Christian churches of the Haines City
area together to form a coalition. At that meeting were 8 people representing 6
different area churches.
We decided to unite under the name :
"Heart of Florida Coalition of Christian Churches"
Our statement would be:
"Uniting for praise and works of charity in the Heart of Florida"
Our Goals would be:
1. To continue our commitment of a City Wide Christian Choir that was started for the
spring "Sing Praise" concert and dedication of the Lake Eva Park.
2.That we would work to help the cooperation of all of our Food Banks to work
together.
3.That we would support the greater Haines City area in works of service and charity
On Pentecost Sunday 2009, The City Wide Christian Choir, under the direction of
Cormac O'Duffy, would present the area's first annual "Sing Praise" Concert, a
concert series first established in another state by Cormac O'Duffy. The Choir then
was used as part of the Opening Ceremony for the New Lake Eva park on July 4,
2009. The fall season had the Choir do a Concert of Thanks.
In January 2010, work began on project "INASMUCH" that would take place on
March 20, 2010. Almost 500 volunteers from a number area churches reached out
into the community with planned acts of worship, by ministering to the needs of the
community. Some 38 projects all going on simultaneously, showing the love of God.
On April 4,2010, our first city wide Easter Sunrise Service "Celebration of the
Resurrection", took place in Lake Eva Park with the combined efforts of The City
Wide Christian Choir, two hand bell choirs, several musicians and 15 Pastors. There
were an estimated 300 to 350 in attendance for the 6:00 a.m. Service.
The Coalition now meets monthly on the first Tuesday of the month at the Lake Eva
Park Convention Center at 12 :30 p.m. Until 2:00 p.m. All Christian Churches are
invited and urged to send representatives to the meeting .
